Lifeline Ministries of Northern Kentucky

T/A Truckstop, Florence Kentucky

Have you ever driven by the T/A Truckstop on KY 18 and noticed the neon cross on the tractor trailer parked to the right of the building? If you have, then you've seen the truckers chapel. What you may not have seen is the fact that the trailer is actually a church on wheels! Equipped with a piano, podium and stereo sound, the trailer acts as church away from church for drivers far from home and a beacon of hope for the unchurched passing through.

Several years ago, LifeLine Ministries was given the opportunity to minister at the Truckers Chapel once a month on the 4th Wednesday night and we've been there monthly since. But something struck us early on. Instead of waiting for drivers to come to us, what if we went to them instead? Actually walked the lot and went into the truck stop to share God's love directly? What if we coupled that outward focus with care bags from the ministry designed to provide driver's comfort on the road? From there, we began to pack care bags each month that are distributed to drivers, truck stop employees and fast food workers at T/A Truck stop by LifeLine Ministries teams of volunteers.

There are many stories I could share with you of how God used the ministry to be the light of Jesus at a dark point in someone's life, but one event in particular is burned in my memory:
On a hot Summer night, two High School students came to serve with our team. As they walked the lot distributing bags and praying with drivers that were willing, they came across a driver who completely rejected them. Later in the evening while the boys were in the trailer, the man came in and broke down. His best friend's child had been molested just one day earlier. This man knew who the offender was and vowed to kill the man the next day. These High School students and several adult servants locked arms with this man and prayed that God would heal his hatred for this man who had harmed his friend's child. The next day, the man bypassed Knoxville, TN and dropped his load in Florida without harming the offender.

These boys could have never imagined that God would use them to prevent a murder from occurring, but he did. To think that this man may have never witnessed God's love without two boys making themselves available to say "here I am, send me" is humbling. Would you let God use you?
