SpincycleLifeline Ministries of Northern KentuckyWhat comes to mind when you think of washing your clothes at the local coin laundry? Waiting forever for your clothes to dry? Sweating on a hot Summer day while you're there? Wishing you had something to keep your kids entertained? These are just a few of things that struck us when we prayed about expanding the LifeLine ministry into local coin laundry facilities. Since the ministry began, we have continually sought to create unconventional outreach opportunities. The coin laundry was a natural. We felt like we would come into contact with many people finding their personal lives in the "Spincycle", hence the name of this outreach. So, our packing teams went to work creating a laundry themed care bag that would take the "starch" out of the uncomfortable task of being at the coin laundry for several hours on end. These care bags contain laundry detergent, fabric softener, snacks, coloring books and crayons for the kids and even some quarters to pay for several loads of laundry. As with all of the bags and baskets we pack and distribute, a copy of the New Testament is part of the offerings. This outreach has proven very effective in ministering to our Hispanic friends, many of whom work at Turfway Park. They are excited to learn that we offer Spanish New Testaments to meet their hunger for the word. On September 22nd, a group of 20 servants from Watermark Community Church made use of the LifeLine Ministries SpinCycle Outreach to deliver laundry themed care bags to patrons at 11 coin laundry's in Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties. The payoff from the day though was having a bag recipient come to services at Watermark the following day as a result of the outreach. We believe this happens time and time again with every church that serves in our network. Once again, the ministry is being used to change the world, one basket (and bag) at a time!
